The Protestant Theological Institute of Cluj-Napoca announces the completion and submission of the Internal Evaluation Report to ARACIS for the accreditation of the doctoral domain in Theology.

This initiative marks an important moment in institutional development, representing the resumption of an academic tradition interrupted in 2013. Between 1948-2013, ITP trained approximately 80 doctors in theology, significantly contributing to the development of theological studies in Romania.

The future Doctoral School of Theology and Religious Studies is planned to operate with five habilitated doctoral supervisors in complementary fields: biblical theology, systematic theology, practical theology, and church history. The proposed structure includes three categories of places: with scholarship, tuition-free, and with tuition fee.

In the coming months, the report will be evaluated by ARACIS experts, and the external evaluation visit is anticipated for spring 2026. If it receives a favorable decision, the first doctoral students could be enrolled starting with the 2026-2027 academic year.

This initiative consolidates the position of the Theological Institute as a higher education institution in Romania with the potential to organize doctoral studies, offering a unique academic platform for advanced theological research in a multicultural and multilingual context.
