Doctoral Programme Accreditation Obtained

At its meeting held on 5 March 2026, the Executive Council of ARACIS (the Romanian agency for quality assurance in higher education) approved the external evaluation report of the specialist committee. The doctoral programme can begin from autumn!

The Protestant Theological Institute of Cluj (PTCI) submitted its self-evaluation report to the agency for quality assurance in October 2025, with the aim of relaunching the doctoral programme that had been discontinued in 2013. ARACIS conducted an on-site visit to the Institute in January 2026 to prepare its own external evaluation report. Both reports were reviewed favourably at the meeting of ARACIS's Executive Council on 5 March 2026, approving the launch of the doctoral programme.

In the administrative process, the legality of the above decision will be confirmed by the Ministry of Education. It is hoped, however, that the doctoral school will be able to commence from autumn.

This represents a highly significant milestone in the history of the Protestant Theological Institute of Cluj. Following the Bachelor's (BA) and Master's (MA) programmes, the addition of a doctoral programme (PhD) further expands the Institute's educational and research offerings, covering the full spectrum of university education and enabling those interested in theology and religious studies to obtain qualifications at the highest level.
